This project is intended to achieve a reduction in the emissions of organic substances (VOCs and SVOCs), NOx, SO2 and particles in the iron and steel production, using a model that integrates the relationships that exist between the operating parameters and the emission of pollutants. EKOTEK has contributed to the development of an improved control process that uses "soft-sensing" predictive models, and a new damp contactor to reduce emissions of NOx and SO2.
As a result of this project, the European Iron and Steel Sector now has a useful atmospheric emission control tool that will be of great help with regards to the Law on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC).
