EKOTEK has developed an innovative technology for synthesising oxygenated organic compounds (methanol and ethanol) in a supercritical fluid medium (SC- CO2), to be applied in the production of biological fuels (biodiesel) and conventional fuels (oxygenated additives for petrol). This new method of synthesis is a low-cost and high-quality technology that offers an alternative to the costly existing systems used to produce both compounds..
During this development, supercritical fluid technology has been adapted, developed and optimised for use in the catalytic synthesis of ethanol and methanol, in order to be used in the bio-fuel sector. The inherent properties of this technology allow high-quality products of maximum purity to be obtained, in perfect compliance with the quality standard requisites for fuels and bio-fuels. The development of this type of technology favours the use of non-fossil fuels and promotes Sustainable Development in the Transport Sector.
