Development of new sustainable industrial applications using ionic liquids

Objectives

The main objective of this Project is to research and generate scientific-technical knowledge on ionic liquids and their industrial applications so as to improve and optimize current processes in the field of new metallic coatings, transport sector (automotive and aviation), energy (solar and storage), environment and biotechnology. The introduction or substitution of other products by ionic liquids will significantly improve the technical and sustainability performances of the target processes..

Results

As result of this project, traditional industrial sectors such as transport, energy, coatings, environment, biotechnology, etc. will have products and technologies based on ionic liquids that will improve not only their productivity, but also the sustainability of their processes. This is because ionic liquids, known as "green solvents", entail a number of advantages derived from their particular physical and chemical properties that enable the desired duality between sustainability and productivity searched in the Industrial Sector.
